I have dedicated many years of my adult life working in this office in different capacities, and I am proud to say that I am the only assessor in the State of Tennessee to have achieved the highest designations offered by the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO). My name is John Whitehead. It is my distinct honor and privilege to serve you as Property Assessor. Failure to appeal to the County Board of Equalization will result in the values and the classification being final for tax year 2022.

The Board will meet in the Old Courthouse at 300 Main Street.

Every effort will be made to accommodate all appeals to the County Board. You must schedule an appointment by calling (865) 215-2006 beginning Wednesday, through Wednesday, June 29, 2022. If you believe the listed value of your parcel does not reflect the fair market value or classification of your property, you may appeal to the County Board of Equalization. Whether you filed an Informal Appeal or not during our Informal Appeals process, it is your right to appeal the value or classification of your property to the Knox County Board of Equalization if you so choose.
